Sexual assault is any unwanted sexual act done by one person to another. It includes kissing, fondling or having sexual intercourse without your consent (permission). There is often confusion between the words rape and sexual assault. Sexual assault is a broad term that includes rape. Rape is a term that only describes forced sexual intercourse. Date rape is sexual assault that occurs in a dating or social situation. Rape and all forms of sexual assault are violent acts and are crimes. Sexual assault with a weapon : Sexual assault with the use of a weapon or with the threat to use a weapon to cause bodily harm - is when the person is physically hurt or if the perpetrator threatens to hurt a third party during the assault. Aggravated Sexual Assault is when a person is crippled, wounded , disfigured, or brutally beaten during the assault and the person's life was at risk.
